This note is graded Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality) by PMG.
The Criswell catalog designation for this note is Cr. 294 ("J.T. Paterson & Co., Columbia, S.C." at lower right; small letter [c] below "A").
The plate printer's name, Emiel Thieme, is printed in the right-hand margin of the note.
The reverse of the note bears three interest paid stamps for 1863 and 1864, as well as a bold handwritten endorsement by James T. Miller, Depositary and Collector of the Port for Wilmington, S.C. from December 1861 to October 1862: "Issued this 4th day / of September 1862 / Jas. T. Miller / Depositary".
