Original Confederate Loan Bond on thin paper, this hand numbered in ink "
15233,"
measuring approximately 16.75 inches by 13.75 inches. With engraved portrait of Stonewall Jackson, vignette of a train & steamboat, & 9 of 12 coupons.
The document is signed in manuscript by Robert Tyler, Register of the Treasury.
Condition:
Old folds, some creasing, couple of tiny holes, moderately foxed & soiled, three coupons excised.

"Robert Tyler (1816 – 1877) was the eldest son of John Tyler, the tenth President of the United States, and Letitia Christian Tyler.
He served as the Confederate Register of the Treasury during the American Civil War. Previously, Tyler served as private secretary for his father's presidential administration. In later life, he served as the editor of the Montgomery Advertiser."
