  • Condition: 1864 Confederate States of America Paper Bill. Richmond, Virginia. Numbered and signed by hand. Dated February 17, 1864, the seventh and final series of Confederate bills. OBVERSE: Drawing depicts horses pulling a canon. Mini-portal holds portrait of Robert M. T. Hunter, Confederate States Secretary of State. Plate Letter B. CSA Serial “No. 1182,12”. Black ink. REVERSE: Blue ink. TEN in center. Each corner marked 10 within circle. Signatures "for Register" and "for Treasurer” signed by hand. Lithograph by Evans & Cogswell (left). Engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, S.C. (beneath left signature). Confederate notes were painstakingly hand signed and numbered. The typical uneven borders in the bill were caused by using scissors to hand cut sheets of notes. Mounted in a clear acrylic holder. No pinholes, tape or repairs.
