1904 MENNEN TALCUM POWDER TIN LITHOGRAPH ADVERTISING SIGN "BABY'S BEST FRIEND"

Wonderful and original, 1904 Mennen's Talcum Powder, Self Framed, Tin Lithographed Advertising Sign / Premium titled “Baby’s Best Friend” and picturing a beautiful, blonde haired child. This charming Tin Litho Sign measures approx. 15" by 19 1/2" and and features an image used by Mennen to advertise their Baby Powder in print ads from the early 20th century.
The Sign is a bust portrait of an angelic child wrapped in a white linen sheet. Just the hint of a smile gives the child a look of comfort and satisfaction. The Sign is copyright 1904 by the artist Charles Williams and carries the mark of the manufacturer – The H. D. Beach Company of Coshocton, Ohio.
There is absolutely no text of any kind on the Sign but the image was well known and associated with Mennen Talcum Powder in the early 20th century. Print ads for Mennen’s Talc using this charming image included the title “Baby’s Best Friend” and, apparently, the company issued this Sign as a premium or a point of sale decorative Advertising piece.
This rare and very attractive Mennen's Talcum Powder Tin Litho Advertising Sign is in very good condition. The colors are bright and vibrant – rich and warm and the Sign displays nicely. While there are no major areas of surface loss or wear, there are small, scattered surface blemishes to the image area as can be seen in the scans below. The raised “frame” is well preserved with a bend at the upper left hand corner only.
