    Description
    This is a choice, crisp, never used
    "One Lempira"
    note from the Republic of Honduras in Central America. It is dated May 29, 1980. This is the last note without a security thread.
    In 1931 Honduras renamed its currency the
    "Lempira"
    in honor of the Lenca War Chief pictured on the note. When the Spanish
    "Conquistadors"
    were trying to conquer Honduras Lempira unified an army to resist them. He is not only honored on the currency; a Department of Honduras was renamed for him.
