Antique Hand Woven Asian Tapered Basket w/Lid, SNAKE CHARMER’S S BASKET??
I assume this is Asian, perhaps Chinese, but I am not certain. I also assume this is early to mid-20th century, but again, I am not certain! Perhaps someone out there in eBayland can enlighten us as to its use/purpose and age!
Anyway, an AWESOME basket here, even with its “leaning” issue. It is very TIGHTLY WOVEN as you can see, with both horizontal bars and alternate vertical weaving.
CONDITION and MEASUREMENTS:
Notice how this basket leans. It is NOT broken anywhere so I assume it is a hand crafted “production” flaw!
Anyway, a very nice, TIGHTLY WOVEN basket here, that looks like a SNAKE CHARMER’S BASEKT to me! ! It is 12 1/2” - 13 1/2” tall, depending on which side you measure! Largest circumference is @40”. Base diameter of 5 1/2”. Top opening diameter of 6 1/4”.
