This knife is a late 1960's M7 Bayonet made by Bauer Ordnance Company (BOC)
It has had a custom conversion done to it to made it into a modern version of a trench knife.
When I got the knife the original ring was bent and the clasps on the pommel were rusted and non functioning. There were also several chips in the tip edges and no handle scales.
I decided to do a project knife or a little bit of modern "trench art". depending on how you see it.  Plus I wanted a nice knife in a hard sheath, to take with me when out hiking with the dogs.
The knife has been rebuilt with a custom made cross guard and pommel.
The pommel has been machined from sold steel round stock shaped and peened on. The cross guard is made from flat stock and utilizes the factory M7 technique on installation. i.e. A "U" bar backer peened behind the cross guard.
The standard factory gap remains between the plastic handle halves and the pommel and cross guard. This prevents any blow to those two parts from cracking the plastic handles. It also prevents wiggle of the cross guard.
Knife handles are factory plastic military issue scales.
Blade tip has been reprofiled and the edge has been sharpened utilizing Arkansas whet stones and oiled, It has zero rust or pitting. There is a little bit of surface rust under the handles near the cross guard
All steel surfaces that were not originally parkerized have been blued and oiled.
The scabbard has been rebuilt from spare parts by utilizing:
    - PWH Throat and Tip,
    - Plastic Solingen German M8A1 Body and throat spacer.
    - Scabbard has a custom made hand sewn nylon hanger. Hanger has been sewn with nylon thread and uses MILSPEC hardware,
this includes rivets, rivet caps, snap  and glove strap tips.
I built it this way due to the fact that the original scabbard body I had was broken, but I had a nice USA throat. The German canvas hanger is junk, nylon lasts a lot longer in wet and humid conditions than canvas.
A lot of thought and time went into this project, so please don't baulk at starting price. It has maybe 8 man hours of time in it. This is a very u
nique and one of a kind Knife. Very usable too.
