Description
Tribal – Maori design. New Zealand and the Maori culture are well known for their face tattoos know as Ta Moko. This type of traditional face tattoo told of the person’s linage and status within a tribe. This form of tattoo was highly personalized and played a big part in Maori spirituality. Kirituhi, which means “skin art” or “body art”, is a relatively new term being used to describe Maori –style tattoos. Kirituhi should not be confused with Ta Moko. Ta Moko is Taonga – a national and sacred treasure. Kirituhi is more general than personal. Moko was part of a person’s mana or spiritual inner strength. Pendant is made of lead-free pewter and measures 1.75” high and .75” wide. Accent beads are glass light aqua crow and red pony. All are strung on a cord with a double knot at both ends that allow you to lengthen or shorten the pendant.Powered by
