Close-up high-resolution photos of the two serial numbers are provided in this listing. Please use the included 12 high-resolution photos to evalute the condition and the original state of these notes. PMG did specifically note a "pinhole" on the grade-63 note near the lower left edge when viewed from the Obverse, which is highlighted with backlighting in the last 3 included photos. It is really hardly noticeable with the naked eye and isn't at all distracting, due to its location in the alternating black and white design area near the left margin. Signatures are of S. Johnson for the Register and K. Korff for the Treasurer.

    Description

Offered is a Consecutive Pair of Confederate .00 T-68 banknotes (Serial #s 75767 & 75768, both Plate Position F), separately certified by PMG as PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated and as PMG 58-EPQ; with the 75767 note bearing clearly mis-matched Serial #s on the left and the right sides of the Obverse, which shows # 75767 on the left and #75787 on the right.  Close-up high-resolution photos of the two serial numbers are provided in this listing.  Please use the included 12 high-resolution photos to evalute the condition and the original state of these notes.PMG did specifically note a "pinhole" on the grade-63 note near the lower left edge when viewed from the Obverse, which is highlighted with backlighting in the last 3 included photos.  It is really hardly noticeable with the naked eye and isn't at all distracting, due to its location in the alternating black and white design area near the left margin.  Despite the attempts by some sellers to pawn off mis-matched handwritten serial numbers on Confederate notes as a great and valuable rarity and to charge exorbitant amounts for such notes, the reality is that - because of use of hasty manual entry on hundreds and thousands of notes, and the variability of handwriting, etc., this type of thing is no great rarity.  Additionally, many Confederate notes that are claimed to show mis-matched serial numbers are simply notes where the writing varied from side to side, or the wear and tear on the notes removed or obscured some of the inked areas, etc.  In any event, the two notes offered here stand out as being obviously mis-matched to the naked eye, are fully in dark black ink, and the notes are in such original condition that the mis-match is clearly original.  While this pair is no great rarity in and of itself, it is a pair that does invite close study and is informative about the processes that the folks finalizing such notes were saddled with.  For these reasons this pair of notes is interesting and educational and well worth holding in one's collection.  Having the consecutive note to a mis-matched Serial note helps to complete the study-ability of the mis-matched noted, as most of the handwritted numbers appear somewhere in the serials of both notes.  Signatures here are of S. Johnson for the Register and K. Korff for the Treasurer.
