    Description

Old Banjara brass anklet, armlet or bangle from Gujarat. This is heavily aged and worn. There are little flower markings on both sides at the ends. Solid cuff, not hollow. The inner circumference is 8.6". The opening is quite wide - which makes me inclined to think this is an anklet - about 2" across. There is a hairline crack in the metal. It doesn't appear to affect the construction. I am not sure which Banjara tribe this belongs to, as there are many. Similar to the term "Kuchi/Kochi", the term "Banjara" refers to a nomadic way of life and not a particular tribe. The metal is neither silver nor golden in appearance, but somewhere in between. This is an old, solid piece of jewelry and not a lightweight reproduction. Weighs 4 ounces/112 grams.
