    Description

Pair of beautiful old mother of pearl (locally called, "sadaf") buttons from the tribal regions of Kohistan, Pakistan. The geometric symbols are made by hand. Speculation about the use of the buttons is varied - some say they are worn on dresses called, "jumlo", others indicate they are used on decorative items. Each button is worn from years of use but their designs are still visible. One is a little thicker than the other but both have variations in thickness due to the natural shape of the shell. About 1/8" thick at most. The remains of the shell are still apparent on the back. These are very similar in appearance. You'll receive both. About 2" wide.
Different monitors and phone apps show colors differently. I do my best to accurately document color using both photos and written descriptions. If you have any questions, please send me a message.
