    Description

PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated 1861 Confederate fully-framed T-9 20 dollar note; beautiful, pristine white paper.  At the time that this listing for this PMG 63 T-9 note is being listed, there are 32 other T-9 Confederate notes listed on EBay, and not a singular other note is certified at any uncirculated grade; in fact, the next highest-graded T-9 is at 40.  These early notes are generally quite heavily circulated and not in better grades of condition; after all, 1861 was the first year of the Civil War, and the notes would be in circulation for about 4 years after 1861. This note's design dates to the first year of the Civil War, being authorized and dated July 25th, 1861, just some 3+ months after the initial attack on Fort Sumter, near Charleston, South Carolina.  The applied signatures are of Thomas J. Miller on behalf of the Register, and of R.H.L. Tighe on behalf of the Treasurer.  This was the first Confederate note design to be issued.
