post-Vietnam Era US Army Western W49 Bowie Style Knife & Leather Scabbard - Very Nice Condition
Up for sale is a post-Vietnam Era US Army Western W49 Bowie Style Knife & Leather Scabbard.  This knife was a popular commercially produced knife that was widely used by US Army Soldiers during and after the Vietnam era.  The knife is marked: Western USA W49 over D. "D" in the 1980 date code.  This knife has a 9.5" bowie style blade with an overall length of 14.5".  The blade is bright with discoloration scattered over the blade.  There is a minor spot of surface pitting at the very tip of the blade.  A couple of nicks on the back edge of the blade.  The knife has a large brass guard, which has turned patina color.  The handle has dark wooden grips.  The grips are in excellent condition.  The right side grip handle has a hairline crack running through the first rivet next to the guard.  See photo.  The scabbard is original.  The leather is soft and supple.  No rips or tears.  The top left rivet has pulled through the leather.  See photo.  Overall this is a Very Nice Condition used knife.
