THIS IS A VERY RARE EARLY VIET NAM ERA SWORD WITH AN ENGRAVED PANEL AND DATE NAMING THECOMMANDING 1ST BATALLION 51ST INFANTRY 4 AD
ARMORED DIVISION FROM 63 TO 64.
VERY VERY EARLY NAM PERIOD. PROFUSELY AND DEEPLY ETCHED?OR ENGRAVED AS I THINK?,, ON BOTH SIDES AND EVEN THE BACK SPINE IS DONE IN THE SAME QUALITY. MADE IN WEST GERMANY AND IMPORTED BY MEYERS TO NEW YORK AND MARKED "PROVED" ON THE OTHER SIDE. ENGRAVING IS ABOUT 17" OF THE TOTAL LENGTH OF 33.5" FOR THE BLADE AND 39.5" OVERALL. WEAR TO THE SCABBARD AND TOP OF THE HANDLE WHERE YOUR PALM WOULD FIT IT TO HANDLE. THE COMMANDER OF THE UNIT PER WIKI IS:

. Abrams later rose to command all U.S. forces in South Vietnam during the
Vietnam War
and served as U.S. Army Chief of Staff in the 1970s. The U.S.
