Description
After the Korean War, the US military sought to strengthen the South Korean forces to deter any future aggression from the North. The South Korean army was equipped with standard M-1 Garands, and modified many of the accompanying bayonets to the blade style of the US M-1 Carbine bayonet. ROK (Republic of Korea) troops carried the M-1 Garand well into Vietnam. This South Korean ROK 1950s Vietnam M-1 GARAND BAYONET is in excellent condition, with some light wavy nicking to the top false edge and the lower blade edge, some light scattered scratching and finish abrading at each side of the blade, a few scuffs in the middle left handle scale, some scattered scuffs to the right handle scale, some brownish soiling to both handle scales, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the bayonet is in excellent shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 6 5/8" spearpoint fullered blade with the classic top false edge that retains approximately 97% of the crisp, original parkerized finish, sports the traditional ridged black plastic handle scales, and boasts a fully functional press stud and locking latch. It's correctly unmarked, and is a beautiful example of a rare, original South Korean ROK 1950s Vietnam M-1 GARAND BAYONET. No scabbard included. We have shown a photo of a South Korean soldier in Vietnam armed with an M-1 Garand. With apologies to our valued international clients, we must restrict bidding to US bidders only.
