Description
Stearic Acid can be used in many handmade products. Itis an emollient that helps to maintain and protect the skin’s natural barrier, as well as an emulsifier and wax hardener.
This listing is for 1, 4 oz. package.
In Lotion, Emulsified Scrubs and body butters, stearic acid enhances the creaminess, thickness and richness of handmade creams. It stabilizes the emulsion to prevent separation and lengthen the life of the product. The resulting thick, creamy product glides over the skin and gives the active ingredients more time to soak in.
Try it at 3-5% of the total recipe.
Handmade Soap: The addition of stearic acid to your CP soap recipe will result in a slightly harder bar. If you want to design a soap recipe that is very conditioning, your recipe may result in a softer bar. By adding a little stearic acid, your bar will last longer. This emollient does not strip the natural oils, but provides a gentle cleansing.
Try it at 0.5-1% of the total recipe.
Stearic acid can help to harden your wax tarts and candle embeds. These will burn longer and will hold their shape better as well as easing the removing of tarts from molds or clamshells because it causes the wax to slightly shrink while cooling. Then the tarts pop out easily and cleanly. Try it at 10% of the total recipe.
After 17 years, I am leaving the soap and cosmetic business, so be sure to visit my store, as I am constantly adding molds, tools, ingredients, fragrance and colorants.
