    Description

For sale is this 1950s produced, Vietnam era bayo with a late WW2 M8A1 scabbard.
The bayonet is a complete example of an early Vietnam era bayonet. In good condition. The bayonet is marked Imperial and M5. This M5 bayonet was produced as part of the 1953-1954 contract by Imperial. Which was their only M5 contract. There is also a small DSA stamp on the guard which is seen on many 1950s and early 1960s US M5s.
The scabbard is made by B.M COand marked VP47 on the back. The scabbard retains much of its original finish and is marked A-147 in paint. There is a crack in the tip of the scabbard which is common for these. The throat is marked B 4/ 7 N.
Overall condition is fair to good. Some light rust and damage which is consistent with age and use. The blade has been sharpened but the overall finish of the blade is good.
Made in the United States, this bayonet is a genuine piece of history from the Vietnam era.
