This is a Confederate Bank note from the Mechanics Bank in Augusta, Georgia. The note is dated October 1861. The bill has 3 signatures and the certificate number 3102. The note is in rough condition having bends and tears here and there. One spot on the bill next to the top right 5 is a tear from attaching itself to the glass. It can be seen in the photos. The bill is fixed to a card and set in a frame with glass. The top of the card reads "Confederate Note Memorial"....below the note there is a lengthy write up honoring "the pledge of a nation that passed away...." It tells of the fight for the Confederacy and the hardships the men went through. It talks about their pain, hope, pay, money, faith, poverty, food and more. This is a memorial to the men who bravely fought for what they believed in. This is a genuine Confederate article and not a common item.
