Knife bayonet for CETME model C rifle.
SIZE: 13.18 in. (33.5 cm).
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition, shows honest field wear from military use. Blade is sharp.
No scabbard.
CETME is an acronym for
Centro de
Estudios Técnicos de Materiales Especiales
(Center for Technical Studies of Special Materials). CETME was the Spanish government design and development establishment where German designer, Ludwig Vorgrimler, modified the German StG45(M) assault rifle to create the CETME.
According to an article published in the international defense journal,

, Guatemala purchased 5,000 CETME Model C rifles from Spain in 1969 and another 5,000 rifles ca. 1973.
Guatemala's CETME rifles and bayonets were produced at the
Empresa Nacional de Santa Barbara de Industrias Militares
(in English, National Business, Santa Barbara Military Industries) factory in Toledo, Spain. This example bears both the
Fábrica de armas de Toledo
(Toledo Arms Factory) and Santa Barbara crests.
These CETME export bayonets are often referred to by collectors as the "Model 1969." However, there is no documentation to proof that Guatemala designated it as such.
The CETME Model C export bayonet differs from the more common Spanish M1964 bayonet:
Smooth Grips (M1964 grips are checkered);
Angled pommel (M1964 has straight pommel);
Oval Mortise (M1964 has a square mortise);
Absence of Spanish serial number;
Black scabbard body (M1964 is green).
