A girda pendant is a distinctive kind of a Turkmen woman's tribal jewelry, with a characteristic notch at the top.
This girda was decorated with ornate medallions, gilding, and a scalloped edge - designs suggesting the Yomut or Choudur sub-tribes.
Beaded dangles with large bells hang below, clattering together with movement.
Beautiful old Turkmen links extend up the sides.
The red beads were placed for their vibrant color and to ward off the evil-eye.
There is a warm age-patina and a few wear-patterns.
