VTG 1952 WI 100% Federal MALLARD Duck Band AVISE F & Wildlife 537 Goose Bird

$ 36.95

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Condition: Great very early Drake Mallard duck band. I bought this band recently from the estate of an old Mississippi River Rat. He shot a lot of bands over the years and only reported a couple including this one. I don't know when or where he shot it but odds are it was on one of the upper pools of the Mississippi River since a lot of his bands were banded in this area. Very hard to find! Rest assured, I do not sell the junk fake crap.

    Description

    Very RARE!  I'm going to start reducing my collection. Coming up in the future will be some great bands that I've collected over the years, some of which are almost impossible to find! Up for sale is an early Mallard size duck band.  From 1934-1948 the feds dated the bands with a sidewise 2 number date. Starting in 1949 they omitted the dating and went to: "NOTIFY FISH & WILDLIFE SERVICE"  It was only used for a couple of years and then they started using the "AVISE" style. I call this the "T" style since there is sideways T after "AVISE".  This is the first use of the Avise style.  Again, this style was only used for a few years as well.  The federal banding was relatively new in the 40's and 50's so not very many birds were banded.  Not only that most people sent the bands into the Bird Banding Lab!  This Drake was banded on AUGUST 8TH, 1952 near La Crosse, WI.  I'm selling this band only because I have another in my collection.  This band is 100% authentic and a must for the serious collector!

    The band shows good wear and good inside staining.   There is some good stuff coming!  Add this to your collection or put it on a lanyard.  I sell quite a few through out the year so please watch my auctions.  Rest assured that all the bands I sell are the real deal and not that fake crap that has flooded ebay!
